Pink Lemonade Sugar Scrub

The weather is warmer, my sleeves are shorter, and I’m finally brave enough to wear my capris outside! Yes, days here in North Carolina right now may start and end cool, but the hours between are packed with beautiful sunlight making me crave summer that much more. I can’t wait to make my first trip to the beach this year, and nothing tastes as good as a cool pink lemonade when you’re basking in the sun. That’s what inspired today’s recipe for a fabulous Pink Lemonade Sugar Scrub guaranteed to get your skin smooth and your senses uplifted!

Want smoother skin? Check out this uplifting Pink Lemonade Sugar Scrub recipe at Sparkles of Sunshine!

I use sugar scrubs in the winter to keep my skin smooth and moisturized, but it’s also important to use sugar scrubs in the summer time, too.  We tend to slather our bodies in lotions, oils and sunscreen in the summer months, making regular exfoliation vital to keeping our pores clear to prevent irritation. Just be sure to use extra sunscreen to protect the new, beautiful skin left behind since freshly exfoliated skin can be susceptible to burning. Do you want to know my favorite time to exfoliate? I like to use my sugar scrub to exfoliate my legs before I shave, which results in a closer shave and much smoother legs. Perfect just before a trip to the beach!

The lemonade essential oil? Where do I find that? Or am I just squeezing lemons and using 1/2 tsp of that?

    Hi there,

If I want to make this as party favours, how early can I make it before the event? And what is the best way to store it?

    Thanks!!

I make my scrubs and keep them in the shower. They last for weeks until I run out, but I make sure the lid is screwed on tightly so it won’t dry out. I would say you could make them a couple of weeks in advance and store in a location that doesn’t get too warm or cold and you should be fine. Enjoy!

Hi there. I was looking at a couple sugar scrub recipes and they said to leave the coconut oil in solid form rather than your recipe that says to microwave it so its liquid. What is the difference. Is there a reason why you should leave it solid or in liquid form? Thank you in advance for the help.

Some believe that you can destroy some of the properties of coconut oil (antifungal, antibacterial, etc.) by placing the oil in the microwave. Melting the coconut oil in the microwave will not harm the moisturizing benefits of coconut oil, which is what it’s used for in my sugar scrub recipes. Melting the oil just makes it easier to mix. I hope this helps!
