Calling all sugar scrub fans! Have you tried making a whipped sugar scrub yet? Well, I finally gave it a try, and guess what? I think I’m hooked! I’m sharing the recipe for this whipped pink sugar body scrub with you today. I think it’s the perfect gift for someone special for Valentine’s Day because… well…it smells sweet and it’s pink! I’ve been making my own sugar scrubs for a few years now, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to store bought scrubs again. Not only do I like saving money, but I really like knowing what I’m putting on my body. I know the ingredients I put in my body scrubs are safe, and to me that is super important. This recipe calls for extracts instead of essential oils, so you can gather all the ingredients right from your pantry!
For this recipe I thought I’d switch it up a bit. I normally use a couple types of oils and simply melt the coconut oil prior to mixing, but not today. I’ve seen whipped body scrubs and thought I’d give one a try. I just love the smooth, creamy texture of the whipped scrub. The only negative thing I can say about this method is it left me with an extra kitchen utensil to wash, but that’s no big deal. My hubby does the dishes usually anyway!
Here are ingredients you will need to make this sugar body scrub:
- 1 cup coconut oil (Here is my favorite brand!)
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- red food color
Here is how you make this sugar scrub:
- Place coconut oil and in a medium bowl and beat on low with an electric mixer for 1 minute.
- Add white granulated sugar and continue to beat until mixture is light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add almond and vanilla extracts and 3 drops of food coloring. Beat on low speed for an addition 30 seconds or until mixed well. (You can add more food coloring if you’d like a darker pink color.)
- Store in an airtight container.
See how light and fluffy this sugar body scrub is? The texture is a lot like a cake frosting, just grainy because of the sugar crystals. This scrub smells amazing! The almond and vanilla extracts really make it tempting to take a bite, but don’t. It won’t taste as good as it looks. At least I don’t think it will…I didn’t actually give it a try, though, so who knows?
I poured my whipped pink sugar body scrub in a mason jar and decorated it with a piece of fabric and twine. I had Valentine’s Day in mind when I did this, but you could easily change it up for any season or holiday. Print out the recipe below and give it a try today!
