Now that Valentine’s Day is over, it’s time to move on to our next holiday. Green, anyone? I had such an amazing response to my Easy Felt Valentine Envelopes that I decided to come up with another project using felt for St. Patrick’s Day. I can’t wait to share with you today how to make a super cute DIY Felt Pocket Tissue Holder. Trust me, you are really going to love this easy project! My inspiration for these felt tissue holders came from Martha Stewart’s Hankie Holder, but I had to make a few changes, of course. Ready to make your own? Alright, let me show you how it’s done!
For this project you will need the following materials:
- Felt
- Pocket Tissue Packs
- Ribbon/Rick Rack for trim
- Scissors or Rotary Cutter
- Glue gun/hot glue sticks
- Sewing machine and thread
OK, prepare to be amazed, because this project is soooo easy! First, trim your felt into pieces measured 6 1/2 in x 6 1/4 in.
Next, using the 6 1/4 in. sides, fold the material so the edges meet in the middle and pin into place. Using the sewing machine, sew straight across each end.
Now comes the best part…it’s time to use your imagination and have some fun decorating your Felt Pocket Tissue Holder. Using the hot glue gun, attach the ribbon/trim to the felt. You can choose to line the center opening with trim, or the edges…it’s really your choice! I found the cute St. Patrick’s Day themed ribbon trim at AC Moore Arts & Crafts. I also used some rick rack I already had on hand to embellish my felt projects.
So, what to you think of my DIY Felt Pocket Tissue Holders for St. Patrick’s Day? With Spring and allergy season approaching, these are going to make perfect gifts! I still can’t believe how easy it was to make them. This would make a great starter project for someone just learning to sew. Two straight seams and you’re done!
You could easily adapt this easy project to make gifts for any holiday or occasion. Here are some additional ideas for you:
- Use pastel colored felt with pom-pom trim for Easter.
- Use red, white and blue felt with cut out stars for the Fourth of July.
- Use orange and brown felt with felt leaves for embellishment for Fall.
- Red felt can be used for the perfect gift for Christmas and/or Valentine’s Day.
I hope you enjoy making these DIY Felt Pocket Tissue Holders for St. Patrick’s Day as much as I did. Even though these are excellent gifts, don’t give them all away. Keep one in your pocket, and you won’t have to worry about getting pinched for not wearing green this year!

Well, I’m not Irish, so don’t let that stop you! 🙂 Just make one in your favorite color, and you can use it year-round. Thanks for checking it out!
Aw so cute! I think my daughter would love to make these. She has those Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer hanging off of her backpack and she changes out the holder all the time. I know she would do the same with little tissues! Thanks for sharing. Pinning and sharing.
Thanks, Sharon. I’m giving these to my nieces and nephew. I hope they like them, too!
How fun! I would get a kick out of pulling these out my purse. Especially with cold season all around. Might actually brighten my day when sneezing.
I hadn’t thought of that! I will be able to sneeze with a smile! 🙂
