Since I’ve shared several natural skincare recipes with you on this blog, some of you have asked me for a body wash recipe. Today I thought I’d share a DIY foaming body wash recipe that I use in my home. It’s super simple and effective, not to mention it will save you a lot of money over time. Even my hubby uses this DIY foaming body wash recipe with no complaints, so I deem it a real winner. This post contains an affiliate link. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
Here is what you need to make your own DIY foaming body wash:
- 2 oz. castile soap (Here is the brand I use)
- 12 ounce foaming pump soap dispenser
- Essential oils of choice (I used Copaiba and Lemon Essential Oils)
- 8 oz. water
It is always best to use a glass container when using essential oils. I found my dispenser at my local TJ Maxx store, but Amazon carries a similar one. Also, you can use scented or unscented castile soap in this recipe. If you’re not adding essential oils, I recommend using a scented castile soap unless you want an fragrance-free body wash.
Here’s how to make your own foaming body wash:
Start by emptying the castile soap into the foaming soap dispenser.
The ratio this DIY foaming body wash recipe follows is 1 part soap, 4 parts water. If your soap dispenser is bigger or smaller than mine, you can use this ratio to make the necessary adjustments to the recipe.
Once the castile soap is in the soap dispenser bottle, slowly add the water to the soap. I want to emphasis the word SLOWLY here because a slow stream cuts down the amount of foam produced.
Now add 4-8 drops of your preferred essential oils. I only added a few drops of oils since I used a peppermint scented castile soap to start with.
Screw the lid on the soap bottle and gentle shake it to mix the soap, water and oils properly. That’s all, folks! All you have to do now is take it to the shower!
To use this DIY foaming body wash recipe, all you have to do is press on the pump dispenser and the soap is magically transformed into a foaming body wash. Not only is this a great, natural, chemical-free body wash you can feel confident putting on your skin, but it’s an affordable way to make your soap last longer. Safe and affordable…I like the sound of that. Don’t you?
Never heard of “Ology” until now… I love sneaking in essential oils into my household wherever I can too. Love this DIY post 🙂 Thanks for pinning
