Have you ever owned a lamp that you just didn’t like? Perhaps you once liked it, but then your style changed and it no longer belonged in your living room. Every day you looked at the lamp and wonder why you still had it in your home. That’s what happened to me. Until recently, when I decided to do something about it!
I had this beautiful orange lamp in my living room. Although it was the perfect color for fall, I had grown tired of it and decided it needed a change. It’s time to class up this lamp, what do you think? This was a super easy transformation to complete, in just a few simple steps. All you need is a couple cans of spray paint and painters tape to get started.
I decided to use white and gold paint to makeover my lamp. I started out by spray painting the entire base of the lamp white. I sprayed a few light coats to make sure the orange color was covered properly. Next, I used painters tape to mark off sections of the lamp I didn’t want painted by my second paint color. This lamp was hard to tape off evenly since it had a very curvy base, but my patience definitely paid off with my end result. I used a painters tape designed for delicate surfaces to help prevent any paint from peeling off during tape removal later.
Next, I spray painted my second color of paint. I used Kryon’s Dual Spray Paint in Gold. I sprayed two light coats before removing the painters tape. I sprayed a light coat of sealer and allowed the lamp to dry before reattaching the shade and putting it back on display. Ready to see the final result?
Isn’t this a beautiful change? There’s nothing like a new lamp to give any room a fresh appearance.
I really like the use of contrasting colors on this lamp, and the gold tone looks great in my living room.
What do you think? Doesn’t this lamp look more classy now?
Never underestimate the power of a can of spray paint. It can turn any ordinary object into the extraordinary! Don’t ever toss out any decor items before contemplating the use of spray paint to update them first. What items have you updated with spray paint? I’d love for you to share them with me!
Wow, love the 2-tone, it looks great!
