Yay, it’s finally here! Today I’m revealing my new, spruced up living room space, and I’m inviting you over to take a look. I’ve been showing you projects and bits and pieces of my recent living room update, but today you get to see the whole thing. Are you as excited as I am?? Want to know why did I decided to makeover this room? One word…paint.
When we moved in almost 7 years ago, the entire house was painted a boring light beige color like most newly built homes. I spent time debating what colors to paint, and after a few years I decided I was ready to take the plunge. I had a peach living room once and loved it, so we headed to Lowe’s, picked out a peach color, and got to work.
Guess what? I hated it! The color was beautiful, but all my home decor was red. What was I thinking? All of a sudden I needed new curtains, furniture, accessories, the whole shebang. It took me forever to get everything switched out, but as much as I tried to like it, I still hated it. Every time I’d make up my mind it was time to repaint the room, I would receive compliments from guests about how great the room was and how much they liked the color.
This year I decided I didn’t care what anyone else thought (except my husband, of course) and decided it was time. Over Memorial Day weekend this year we painted the walls a beautiful shade of green, and I was instantly in love. I am so happy with the color now, and I love how relaxed I feel in my updated space. Ready to take a look?
My front door opens right into the living room, so this is your first look into my home. This was the perfect spot for my DIY Cross Stitch Art. Like my gold and white lamp? Find out how I updated my thrift store lamps for cheap.
This it the view to the right when you walk in the front door. I love color, but too much color can be overwhelming in a room. I love how my IKEA furniture with white slipcovers makes the color of my pillows really pop.
I decided to use the small staircase wall as an accent wall by creating white and green stripes. I love these stripes so much I decided to paint matching stripes on the hallway wall that leads to the bedrooms. You can see the book page wreath and decorative globe projects I made in this view of my living room.
There is only one window in the living room, and I love the way it lets light flood into the room. Here you can see the pallet wood side table and $10 thrifted chest projects I completed. My favorite projects are always my upcycled ones!
My IKEA Painted Clock fills in the empty space I once had behind my front door. Now I never have to wonder what time it is!
I’ve always wanted a round coffee table, and now I finally have one. This Craigslist find fits perfectly into the room after its rustic update! I like to keep the coffee table surface clear so I can see the beauty of the wood. Plus, it makes the room feel less cluttered.
I think the easiest project for this room was making over these cheap storage bins. My favorite project? My cane chair makeover, of course! I enjoy my quiet time each morning in this comfy chair. I’m so glad I didn’t throw it away like I had originally intended.
Thanks so much for stopping by today for my newly updated living room tour. I didn’t realize just how many DIY projects I had done for this room until I looked at these living room pictures. It’s no wonder that I’ve been so busy lately! In fact, there are some projects in these photos that I didn’t even blog about. I think even I’m impressed at how much we accomplished in this room.
It feels so good to finally get the room finished! Well, I say finished, but if you know me, that’s never the case. I’m always changing things up. My dream is to put hardwood floors in this room and get rid of the carpet. I’d love to make that happen one day soon, so stay tuned!
Your room looks wonderful, Christie! There are so many awesome DIY projects. I love the wall color you chose and the stripes were a wonderful way to add more interest to the wall. What a sense of accomplishment you must be feeling!
Thanks, Beverly. You will have the same sense of accomplishment after you finish your Charleston Room Makeover! 🙂
Your livingroom looks so comfy and inviting! I love all the sunlight.
Thanks, Christine. I love that this room is light, bright, but still relaxing.
WOW girl! That is so pretty! I love that color, the stripes are beautiful too! I am seriously obsessed with white and bright colors right now. Great tour, I feel like I just walked in your front door and hung out with you! except I need some coffee and we will be good hahaha
pinned and shared 🙂 you did a wonderful job!
Thanks, girl. I’m so glad you like it, if only you lived closer so we could literally hang out instead of virtually…LOL.
Christie, I looked at your tour the other day. The new look is fabulous! You are a very talented lady.
Thanks! So glad you like it, too. Thanks for checking it out! XOXO
