Who says that decorating your home for Valentine’s Day has to be complicated? If anyone did, today I’m proving them wrong with a super easy wreath project.
Festive? Check!
Simple? Check!
Beautiful? Check!
Yes, this Simple Ruffled Valentine Wreath definitely meets all of those requirements!
New Year’s resolutions are not for me. No, instead of making resolutions at the beginning of the year that are usually forgotten before Spring, I choose one word to inspire me throughout the year. So…would you like to know what word I’ve chosen for my theme this year? SIMPLIFY. Yes, I want to simplify my life in every way that I can. Get ready, folks, because my theme has even found its way over to my crafty projects! If I can find a simple, easy way to get something done that will leave me with more time to spend on the things that matter most to me, then I’m gonna do it. This Simple Ruffled Valentine Wreath definitely fits the bill, because it was oh so easy to make, not to mention only cost me a few bucks for supplies. That’s a double win in my book!
For this project you will need the following:
- Styrofoam wreath form
- pink felt
- red felt
- scissors
I really liked the easy wreath making method I tried out for my Peppermint Holiday Wreath last year, but I decided to make just a couple of changes for my Valentine’s Day wreath. Ever since I discovered this easy way to make a felt wreath without a glue gun and skin burns, I’ll never look back! Here’s how I did it:
I started out by cutting each piece of felt into 4 pieces by folding it in half, cutting, then folding in half again and cutting. I found a round bowl in the kitchen, traced it onto a piece of the felt using a pencil then cut it out. I used this circle as a pattern to cut out circle after circle of felt. This is best done while watching a TV show, of course! The number of circles you will need will depend on the size of your wreath. I made around 128 circles for my 10 inch wreath form.
I made this wreath using two layers of felt. First, position two layers of felt (one red and one pink) on top of the wreath form.
Use the scissors to push the felt down into the styrofoam.
Once you pull out the scissors the felt will be securely tucked into the wreath form. Yay! No glue, no pins, super easy! Work your way around the wreath using the same technique. Once you’ve made a ring around the wreath, then add another row of felt pieces on the outside ring of the wreath form. Fluff your ruffles into place, then you’re done!
I left my wreath as is, without a bow or any other added decoration. I wanted simple, remember?
Look at those beautiful ruffles!! It’s so feminine and sweet, and perfect for Valentine’s Day…just like me.
Now you can have fun making your own Simple Ruffled Valentine Wreath, too!
Whoaa!! It’s so adorable.!!
Thanks so much! I must say that I agree. 🙂 So glad you stopped by and took a look today!
