With Christmas behind us, it’s now time to look forward to the new year. Can you believe I’ve already taken down my Christmas wreath in exchange for the new winter wonderland wreath I made? Yep, it’s out with the old and in with the new for me, and I can’t wait to show you how pretty this wreath project turned out for me!
I’ll be the first to admit I’ve been a little wreath happy lately, but when inspiration hits I can’t put a stop to it. I have to obey!! Even though I made two wreaths for the fall season and two for Christmas, I’m sure that this winter wonderland wreath will last me until Valentine’s Day. I think…
This may surprise you, but I despise winter. Despise it with a passion, actually. Hate may even be a better word. I hate cold weather and everything that comes along with it, including ice and snow. So, why make a winter wonderland wreath, you ask? Because this beautiful snowy mesh caught my eye when I was out shopping at Walmart, and I just couldn’t resist picking up a roll. As much as I loved my thrifty winter wreath from last year, this roll of mesh made me want a new one.
This wreath was so simple to make and didn’t take very long. All I did was cut the mesh into strips about 3 inches wide by 18 inches long and tie them around the styrofoam wreath form until it was covered. Then I added a couple of snowflakes to finish it off.
Check out that beautiful, snowy texture! As much as I hate snow and cold weather, I can’t help but love this wreath. I’m not sure when I started despising cold weather so much, but I’m pretty sure it was intensified when I lived in Minnesota. You see, I loved playing in the snow when I was a child, but snow in North Carolina was rare and didn’t stick around for too long because the temps didn’t get very low. But life in Minnesota was a lot different, and I was so sick of mounds of snow and below zero temps by the time the second year rolled around I was thankful the U-Haul truck was rolling back to NC!!
I guess I can enjoy my winter wonderland wreath because I know there won’t be much snow and ice in my winter forecast. At least that’s what I’m praying for, and in North Carolina, it usually is the case. Tell me, do you like wintry cold weather and snow? Let me know by leaving a comment below.
Love your wreath and the older I get the more I love the cold weather. Since I am retired these are now my words for winter…………Let it Snow, Let it Snow and Let it snow. I actually like to live in a locale with all four seasons.
So glad you like it. I have to admit it just didn’t seem like Christmas this year with it being 70+. I hope you get your snow soon! XOXO
how many yards should i buy?
I used one standard roll of mesh to make this wreath. I wish I could tell you the exact yardage but I used up the roll…eek! I know I purchased this particular mesh at Walmart. I hope this helps!
Did you buy the 21” snow mesh?
Yes, I did!
I really like your wreath the color is beautiful and lam going to make some for our doors at church. They’ll be beautiful!
I’m so happy you like it! I know they will look lovely on the church doors. Thanks for stopping by!
I love the snowball mesh and I love the color you used. Was the mesh 21”? Our WalMart doesn’t have that color. Maybe I can find it online. Thank you.
Yes, I did. I made this last year so maybe that’s why you haven’t found this color. I would definitely check online, though, because each store’s selection varies. My fingers are crossed that you find it!
Beautiful wreath. Did you use 21” mesh for this?
Thank you very much! It was an easy wreath to make, and yes, I did use the larger roll of mesh for this project..
What size wreath is this?
I used a 10 inch wreath form to make this wreath.
Where did you find this mesh? I looked everywhere and I can’t seem to find any.
I found it at my local Walmart store around Christmas time.
I looked into Walmart online and could not find this material anywhere. Not even in the USA. I found some in China, they call them snowpoint tulle or mesh. I ordered some and I will see how it turns out. I was determined to find this material because of you, I’m in love with your wreath! Thank you!
Your wreath is GORGEOUS – I love the color and snowflakes on it. I am new at trying my hand with a mesh wreath. Do you just double the material and pull it through and tie a knot? I am definitely going to try this.
Thanks for sharing.
