I know we’ve all had someone try to dull our sparkle at least once in our life. Unfortunately, it happens a lot more than we want it to.

Perhaps you know a Negative Nancy who always points out the possible negative outcomes when you share your enthusiasm for a new job or adventure. Or maybe you work with a colleague with a competitive nature who wants to outshine you so she puts you down to elevate herself higher.

Whatever the situation, the result can be the same. We find ourselves feeling worn out from fighting the negative vibes and we often start questioning ourselves.

Should I really do it? CAN I really do it? Maybe she’s right?

While it can be easy to give in to these doubts about our abilities and give up on the desires of our heart, we do have another option. A better option, I might add.

My mother always taught me that while we can’t control what happens to us, we can control how we react to what happens to us. She taught me to fight back. Perhaps that’s why when someone tries to tell me I can’t do something I find myself fighting tooth and nail to prove them wrong. Thanks, Mom!

I don’t suggest you fight back negatively with words or actions, but I do suggest you fight back with positive thoughts and actions. Hold your head high and keep on keeping on. Make that new dream come to pass and prove the haters wrong. If you have the desire within you to succeed, you can do it. Don’t let them win by giving in to despair. Fight back, friend!
