With summer now officially in full swing, are you ready for the upcoming July 4th holiday? Today I’m sharing an easy project that will help you attend the family cookout in style. Show up in a pair of these easy to make Patriotic Crocheted Flip Flops and you’ll be the talk of the party!I came up with this idea when I was going through my yarn stash after finishing up another crochet flip flop project. I was putting yarn away when I remembered I had some extra flip flops lying around that I had bought on clearance last year. When I pulled them out and saw that the flip flops were red and blue, this project was a no-brainer. I grabbed the flip flops, yarn and a crochet hook and got busy creating these Patriotic Crocheted Flips Flops, just in time for the upcoming July 4th holiday!
Here’s the easy pattern:
Crochet Hook: K (6.5 mm)
Yarn: Red, White and Blue in Worsted Weight. I used Red Heart Super Saver for these flip flops.
Red Heart Pomp-a-Doodle yarn in Red, White or BlueTo cover the strap, join two colors of the worsted weight yarn together with a slip knot. Place the yarn across the top of flip flop strap, insert hook under strap and yarn over, creating 2 loops on hook. Insert hook over the strap, yarn over, then pull the strands through both loops to create a single crochet around the strap. Continue working around the flip flop until the entire strap is covered.
Join the Pomp-a-Doodle yarn with a slip stitch in the first single crochet of the strap. Working with the thread between the pom-poms, single crochet into every single crochet around the strap, ending with a slip stitch in the last single crochet. Weave in ends.
Make pom-poms using the red, white and blue worsted weight yarn. Attach to the front of the flip flops and weave in the ends. Done!
These patriotic flip flops really are an easy project, and work up quickly. Not feeling patriotic? That’s OK, you can use whatever colors you want to make your very own unique flip flops. These would also make great gifts for friends or family, not only because they are adorable and easy to make, but they’re also cheap. Just purchase flip flops from the local dollar store and use leftover yarn from your stash…you’ll have the perfect frugal summer gift in minutes!
I can’t wait to wear my Patriotic Crocheted Flip Flops for the upcoming July 4th holiday! Now you can, too, with my easy pattern. Print it out below!

How stinking adorable! This would be so comfy too instead of the hard plastic. You are genius!
Kenleigh just informed me that I have to make them for her too lol
Hey, I gave these to my mom and two nieces, and they were pretty happy to receive them! You guys could have matching ones for July 4th! 🙂
