How often do you stop to think about all the blessings in your life? Do you remember the last time you expressed your gratitude to those closest to you? Every fall when I start planning for Thanksgiving I’m reminded of the importance of gratitude. Not only expressing gratitude to God and thanking Him for the blessings in my life, but also taking time to thank others. Today’s gratitude inspired fall free printable is meant to remind us of the importance of cultivating an attitude of gratitude in our every day lives.
It’s easy to feel defeated when we complain and focus on all that’s wrong in our lives. It seems like the more we think on it the bigger our complaint becomes. But when we are grateful for the good things in our lives and stop focusing on what’s wrong, our perspective begins to change. Over time all those annoyances and complaints start to grow dim as we realize that we are blessed indeed even when our lives aren’t perfect.
Another benefit to having an attitude of gratitude is that it improves our relationships. When we take time to compliment others by thanking them for their service and/or presence in our lives, we are blessing them. In the long run we are blessed, too, as our relationships deepen and we live happier lives. Sounds like a win-win to me, doesn’t it you?
I hope you’ll download today’s fall free printable and display it to remind you to develop an attitude of thankfulness. Taking time to thank God and others will make you happier as you focus on the good in your life. It only takes a minute to say a quick prayer, to mail a card or to send a simple text message to brighten someone’s day. Will you join me in challenging yourself to express gratitude not only at Thanksgiving, but throughout the year, too?
Just reading your post about gratitude remined me of how much better I felt when I was writing in my Gratitude Journal.
Last year we experienced, not one, but two floodings of our home. Believe me when I say there was still much to be thankful for. But I lost most of my years of journals and supplies for Sunday school. Then the stresses of trying to “do it all” really took its toll on me.
Finally, I just realized my problem was thinking (I) could fix it all. Nobody can without His help. Thank you so much for reminding me. Think I ‘ll start another journal.
Your words are so true, Jean. Without Him we can do nothing. I’m so glad you found this post helpful. Good luck journaling!! XOXO
