If I had to pick my favorite book of the Bible, it would have to be the book of James. It’s short, easy to read, and there is so much wisdom packed into that small book. Today I thought I’d share with you one of my favorite verses, perfect for this time of year as we all focus on the season of gratitude and thankfulness.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 (NIV)
I love this little reminder from James that every thing good comes from God. The morning sunlight, the air we breathe, the world we live in, the family we love, the talents and hobbies we enjoy – it’s all a gift from our heavenly Father above. How many times do we forget to acknowledge His goodness and thank Him for all He’s given to us?
When I wake up each morning I thank God for the gift of another day to live out my calling. Well, most days, that is. On days when I wake up sick, or I’m late for an appointment, or I step in dog vomit on my way out of bed (just being real, folks) I don’t always feel like thanking Him. I get busy and before long I’ve forgotten. I can’t spare even a moment to thank the one who gives me the very breath in my lungs for the many gifts He’s provided for me. Sound familiar?? I had a feeling you would understand, because I bet you’ve been there, too.
I thought this printable might help remind us to take time to thank God for the blessings He’s given us. Not just at Thanksgiving or when things are going right, but every day. Hi Christie! Thank you so much for doing these!! I was wondering if you could do more verses from James. Especially the ones talking about the tongue. Thank you so much for being an encouragement!!
Thank you Gabriela. I’m glad you would like more and I’m working on it!
