Did you see my post earlier this week about my niece’s Sweet 16 birthday party? Just in case you missed it, you can check it out here.
Today I thought I’d show you how I made these adorable cone decorations for the party. In all, it only took about $8 to make all 4 of these. To make this project I used 4 pieces of poster board, a glue gun with glue sticks, a pair of scissors, two packages of cupcake liners and 6 feathered boas from my local Dollar Tree store.
I started out by rolling a piece of poster board into a cone shape.
Once I reached my desired shape, I used a stapler to secure it into place.
Next, I used my scissors to cut the bottom of the cone straight across, and trimmed as needed so it would sit flat onto the table.
I reinforced the staples with hot glue, and then I was ready to bring on the pink!
We will start with the feathered cones. It is pretty simple to make these cute cones, because all you do is hot glue the feathered boas to the poster board.
Just keep wrapping the boas around the cone, securing with glue, until it’s covered. I used 3 boas for each cone.
Now, onto the cupcake liner cones. First, you need to turn the cupcake liners inside out. This is important because most colored liners are white on the inside, and you want that outside color to show.
Next, glue the cupcake liners to the cone randomly until it is completely covered. I glued mine close together, which helped create a ruffled look. I used a pack of 75 cupcake liners for each cone.
That was it! Wasn’t that super easy? Check out these pink beauties!
These really added a great pop of color to our party decor for a small price. What do you think of these cool cone decorations? What kinds of party decorations have you made before? Share them with me!
