I appreciate art…I really do. I just don’t always appreciate the price tag that comes along with it. That’s why I try to make my own artwork as much as possible. So when we had some leftover beadboard after a home project, I came up with an idea to create some one-of-a-kind artwork for my home. Not only is this an affordable alternative to purchasing art, but it really adds a personal touch to your home. Today I’ll share with you how I created this sign for my guest bedroom with only beadboard, carbon paper, pencil, paint marker, glue/glue gun and a couple of accessories.First, I painted the beadboard with some leftover paint I had on hand. Then I used Microsoft Word to design and print out the letters for my sign. I laid the letters on the beadboard in the arrangement I preferred, placed carbon paper underneath, traced the letters with a pencil, and filled in the letters with a paint marker.
All that was left now was to use the glue gun to adhere the starfish and sand dollar accessories to the corners of the piece. Then it was time to put this amazing sign on display!
Wasn’t that super easy to do?
You can easily make this in an afternoon…with time left over to search for new artwork ideas on Pinterest!
I love the additions of natural sea life accessories to really bring this “beachy” sign to life!
How do you like my one-of-a-kind artwork? I love that this sign was affordable, easy to make, and used items I already had on hand. Plus, I always get compliments on it when people see it on display in home. What leftover items have you used to create artwork for your home? Feel free to share them with me!

That is a really cool idea. I have almost a whole sheet of beadboard leftover from a bathroom remodel and I’ve had no idea what to do with it.

this is amazing! I am with you on making your own art! I have so much respect for artists and when I am rich and can buy artwork directly from an amazing artist I would have no problem doing that, but I will never buy artwork from stores like walmart or tjmax when I can make it myself! You did a wonderful job..and a great upcycle!

Thanks, Jess. I agree with you! Of course you’re talented and great and making your own art, so it’s a no-brainer for you!
