Brighten Someone’s Day During National Card and Letter Writing Month

As I was writing cards for my church’s card ministry this week, I realized I hadn’t even reminded you that it’s National Card and Letter Writing Month. I can’t believe it! Once of my favorite activities actually has a month dedicated to it! Brighten someone's day during National Card and Letter Writing Month. Find 20 reasons to send someone a card at Sparkles of Sunshine!I’m not exactly sure when my love of card writing started, but let’s just say that Hallmark has definitely profited from me over the years. The top drawer of my filing cabinet is devoted to my card stash, so I’m always prepared for any occasion that may arise and a card is needed.  Maybe you would call me a card collector, because I can’t help but buy two copies of cards I really love, so I’ll have one to give away and one to keep on file for next time.

Why do I enjoy sending out cards? I just love the thought of someone opening a card that brings a smile to their face. I know how I feel when I check the mail expecting bills or flyers, but instead find an envelope with my name personally written on it. I get so excited and can’t wait to open it up, and often open it right there at my mailbox! I simply want others to feel the same joy, so I try to pass it on by mailing out cards to people in my life. Sometimes, I’ll search for any excuse to mail out cards of encouragement to those I love. Just in case you need an excuse, here are 20 reasons you should send a card to someone today.

  1. Send a card to a family member that lives far away from you, just to remind them that you love and miss them.
  2. Send a card to acknowledge birthdays, anniversaries, or any special day.
  3. Send a thank you note to someone who has been kind to you in the past.
  4. Did a student get a great report card or good SAT score? Send them a card of congratulations!
  5. Sending a card to someone on the anniversary of the loss of their loved one reminds them that you care.
  6. Know someone who has lost a pet? Send them a sympathy card for their loss.
  7. Send a couple a card congratulating them on their recent engagement.
  8. Send a card to someone sick, wishing them to get well soon.
  9. Let someone know that they are not forgotten even though you haven’t been able to spend time together recently.
  10. Send a card to your new neighbors to welcome them to the neighborhood.
  11. Holidays are a great time to send out cards! Don’t forget St. Patrick’s Day, Fourth of July or Thanksgiving!
  12. Send a card to someone you care about that you would have a hard time expressing your appreciation for them in person.
  13. Find out a couple is expecting a baby? Send them a card to say congrats!
  14. Send a card of encouragement to someone having a rough time.
  15. Sending a card to someone who’s lost their job is a great way to show them you care.
  16. Know someone who’s lost their mother or father this past year? Send them a card around Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, just to cheer them up.
  17. How about writing a love note to your special someone or spouse?
  18. Send a card congratulating someone on their new home.
  19. Hurt someone’s feelings? Why not let them know you’re sorry?
  20. You really don’t need a reason….you can send anyone a “just thinking of you” card.

When is the best time to send someone a card?? Anytime! Yes, it is always a good time to spread cheer with a card! Why not brighten someone’s day during National Card and Letter Writing Month? Who will you send a card to today?

I didn’t know there was a month for card and letter writing, that’s fantastic! I loved receiving handwritten cards, and I’ve always wanted to be better at sending them out to others. Now I’ll definitely have to before April is over!
