Today I’m going to broach a subject I never really thought I’d write about. Never in my life did I think I’d be writing a post about No. 2 odor, but hey…it’s no holds barred here. If I think it will help you out, I’m going to share it with you. So that’s why I’m sharing my recent experience with making my own DIY Toilet Spray.
Have you seen those expensive toilet sprays in retail stores promising to keep the stink at bay when you go to the bathroom? I first heard about these last year when I went on a trip with a group of ladies and my hotel roomie brought a bottle of it for us to use during our stay. I admit it sounded a little crazy to me at first. A spray you use beforehand to prevent lingering poop smells?
I wasn’t sold at first, but when I did a little research about these toilet sprays it started to make sense. The idea is that oils create a barrier on the surface of the water so odor stays trapped underneath. It was worth a try, so I whipped up a bottle DIY style. The hubby and I did a little quality control around here and we both believe in the power of this little bottle. It really does work!
Check out the easy recipe below and make your own bottle today. I’m glad I gave it a try, and I bet you will be, too!
To make this easy DIY Toilet Spray you will need the following:
- 1 tablespoon Isopropyl Alcohol
- 2 oz glass spray bottle
- 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil
- 10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
- water
Note: It’s important to use a glass bottle because the essential oils will break down plastic containers.
It only takes a minute to make this easy DIY Toilet Spray. Add the alcohol to the bottle. Add the Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint Essential Oils. Add enough water to fill the bottle up to the top and screw the spray nozzle on. You’re done! Seriously, it doesn’t get much simpler than that!
To use the spray, it’s important to spray it BEFORE you go. Spray it 4-6 times in the bowl before you sit down and you’ll have a much more pleasant bathroom experience. Your family will thank you, too. 🙂
Thank you, Thank You, Thank You so much for this. You just have no idea how many people you have helped with this very subject.
