Do you have a favorite board game? Scrabble is by far one of my favorite games. Maybe it’s because I used to be an English teacher, maybe it’s because I love to read, maybe it’s because I never won a spelling bee contest? Not sure the reason, but I’m always up for a good Scrabble game. That is why this artwork project was right up my ally!
Unfortunately, not everyone sees the wisdom of the game and appreciates it the way I do. That’s why it’s so easy to find these neglected game pieces at your local thrift store. Once I got the idea for this project, all it took was one trip to Goodwill to find these babies! I then snapped up a shadowbox frame marked down at TJ Maxx, and I was ready to go! I wanted to create some artwork with my and my husband’s names with these adorable Scrabble tiles. I decided to attach the tiles to a piece of scrapbook paper I had on hand, then mount it inside the frame.
The most challenging part of this project was lining up our names together to fit inside the frame. I kept moving the tiles around until I found this awesome placement. Isn’t it a great fit? I love that our names together make a cross! I always knew we were a match made in heaven…
It can be annoying that people almost always spell Errik’s name wrong since the spelling is unusual, but this time I was super happy his name has the extra “R” in it! It made this placement just perfect.
What do you think of my Scrabble artwork? I have plenty of leftover tiles, so stay tuned because I’m sure you’ll be seeing more projects with Scrabble pieces! Maybe I’ll make coasters…Christmas ornaments…gift tags…who knows? Do you have any ideas of how I can use these? If so, please do tell!

I am obsessed with word games, especially scrabble and bananagrams and this is such an adorable project! Thanks for sharing it over at The Makers link party!
I had a great time at the party! I love word games, too, so I almost hated to use these actual game pieces for artwork. But I think the end result was definitely worth it. Thanks for stopping by!
This is so cute! I love how you got it to fit perfectly in the cross shape within the frame! I made a similar artwork with game pieces–isn’t it so fun?
