When it comes to Spring Cleaning your home, there are two types of cleaning styles. If you’re the type of person who likes to hurry up and get it over with, then you’ll want to check out my Speed Spring Cleaning Guide. But if you’re a person who likes to take your time and get it done over a course of time, then today’s post is for you. I’m going to show you how to get it all done one task at a time with my list of 31 days of Spring Cleaning tasks. I even have a free printable checklist to help you keep track!
It didn’t take long after marrying my husband for me to find out that we were complete opposites in many different ways. One of them is in the way we like to do our household chores. I like to get everything done so I can sit back and relax knowing there’s nothing left for me to do. My husband, on the other hand, likes to do a couple of tasks, then relax for a bit, then repeat. His method used to drive me crazy, but as time goes on I’m learning to accept it. Who’s to say if his method is right and mine is wrong? Getting it done is what really matters, right?
I guess I should dedicate this post to him since he’s the one who inspired me to come up with a way to get all your Spring Cleaning tasks done over a month’s time. No rushing to get things done in a day or over a weekend with this Spring Cleaning plan! Instead, all you have to do is add one Spring Cleaning task a day to your chores and in 31 days it will all be done. Sound good? Great! Before we get to the tasks I have a few Spring Cleaning tips to help you out.
Spring Cleaning Tips
Upholstery Cleaning Tip: Run furniture slipcovers through the washing machine. Make sure you remove them from the dryer when they are still damp to avoid shrinking and prevent wrinkles. Take furniture cushions outside and beat them gently to remove dust. Use your vacuum’s upholstery brush to vacuum over and underneath the cushions. If you see any stains, check the care labels of the cushion covers and follow the care instructions.
Window Treatment Cleaning Tip: Checking the window treatment care instructions is your first step. Then wash what you can at home and take whatever you can’t to the dry cleaner. For heavy drapes you can clean by using the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove any dust.
Bed Linen Washing Tip: When washing linens, start in order of what goes on the bed first. You can easily put them back on the bed as they come out of the dryer. For example, wash dust ruffles, then mattress pads, then sheets, then quilts or comforters.
Rug Cleaning Tip: Wash any area rugs that are washable or take them outside to beat them to remove dust. Use a carpet cleaning machine to shampoo any stained or heavily used rugs.
