Sweet 16 Party Decor

Today is a very special day in my family, because it is my niece’s 16th birthday!  Do you remember how exciting it was to turn 16? Of course this milestone deserved proper treatment, so how about a surprise birthday party?  Yes, that’s right!  We had a wonderful surprise party for Hannah this weekend, and I’m excited to show you how we were able to glam up an old church fellowship hall with pink…pink…and more pink!

When we first walked into the hall, it was a boring setup with 8 large tables and countless chairs lined up like at a cafeteria.  We had a lot of work to do and just started moving things. After folding many chairs and packing up 5 tables, we really got to work!  Check out what the room looked like to start with.

fellowship hall beforeWe pulled out the many pink decorative items we brought, started hanging bows and such, and had a blast doing it!  It is so much fun to be creative!  We had to improvise a little to cover up a bookcase, bulletin board, piano and other items, but we were really happy with the results when all was said and done.  Want a peek?  Of course I’ll show you the results of our hard work!

We used mesh ribbon to add pink to the tabletops, along with rose petals, iridescent stars and tealight candles.Mesh table decor

We used layers of coverings for the food table, so we could create a swag front with ribbon.  The centerpiece was made by turning a bowl upside down, filling it with string lights, then topping it off with a mesh ribbon bow.food table decor

Check out the cake stand we made by turning crystal bowls upside down and placing pink party lights around them. We then laid a round piece of glass on top and placed the cake and cupcakes on top of it.DIY cake stand

This archway was made using PVC pipe with wood supports for about $8!  It was then wrapped with twist tie ribbon and lights, with a tissue ball and crepe paper attached for added decoration.DIY archway

Here is a picture I snapped while we were decorating, before we added the balloons.  I’m sorry I didn’t get a full picture after the decorating, but I was so busy I forgot!  You know how busy you are when it comes to getting ready for a party, right? To finish it off, we let pink and white balloons float on the floor, and some mylar balloons float on the ceiling.  It was a beautiful change from our before picture no doubt.  What a transformation! After Picture

This place was a sea of pink when we were done with it!

We all had a wonderful time at the party, helping Hannah celebrate her birthday.  I am so proud of my niece, and we are all excited for the great future which lies ahead of her. Happy Sweet 16th Birthday Hannah!!!!

Hope Hanna had as much fun at her party as you did decorating for it! What a wonderful aunt you are. She is so blessed!

Just got around to checking out your web site. Girl, you have got some creative genes in you. Awesome. I know that the more you use this God-given gift, the more it will grow. Soon, everything you see will start to look like a decorative item that you can use or decorate. So proud of you for not waiting until you were retirement age to move to a place in your life that God could use you to make people happy. You found a need and you filled it. Much success to you.
