We had snow recently, which is always a rare treat where I live in North Carolina. The near record breaking low temperatures made me want to bundle up with a good book and snuggle with my fur babies all day. You know what else I like to do during the cold, winter months? Crochet, of course! Maybe it’s because I often crochet scarves, gloves, hats and other items we typically use during winter? I’m really not sure why but every year once cold weather sets in I get busy crocheting.
I eyed this beautiful red yarn I had in my yarn stash. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I thought it would be fun to play around with. I decided to come up with something love inspired and these sweet little hearts fit the bill.
It’s such a simple pattern, so even if you’re a beginner you can make these crochet hearts. You start with a short chain and all the stitches go into the first chain. It doesn’t get much easier than that! Let me share the easy pattern with you.
Materials needed to make a Crochet Heart:
- Red worsted heart (you can use pink or any color of your choice, of course!)
- Size H Crochet Hook
Crochet Heart Free Pattern:
Chain 4. 3 TC stitches inside the first chain stitch you made. Chain 1.
3 DC in same stitch. Chain 1.
1 TC in same stitch. Chain 1.
3 DC in same stitch. Chain 1.
3 TC in same stitch. Chain 3.
Attach with a slip stitch in same stitch.
Tie off yarn and weave in ends.
So, what will you do with your little crochet heart? Whatever you wish! You can use it as an embellishment for scarves, drink cozies, and more. Here are just a few ideas to inspire you.
Attach to a pencil for a non-food Valentine’s Day gift.
Attach to a string of yarn for a cute little garland.
Attach to an elastic band to add color to your planner!
Enjoy making your sweet little crochet hearts for Valentine’s Day, or any day of the year!
