Do you ever have dry, chapped lips? Craving smooth, kissable lips, but don’t want to dish out a lot of money for a fancy store bought lip scrub? Yes? Perfect! Today I’m sharing my recipe for an easy DIY Vanilla Mint Lip Scrub that you can make at home with just a few ingredients.
I first discovered lip scrubs years ago while shopping at Bath & Body Works. I immediately fell in love with the concept of exfoliating your lips with a natural ingredient like sugar, but I didn’t like the expensive price tag. No worries, though, because now I’ve learned how to make my very own. All you need is some sugar, coconut oil and essential oil. It’s really easy, and can be made in less than 5 minutes.
Seriously. In less than 5 minutes you’ll be on your way to having super soft, smooth, kissable lips. For this recipe I’ve chosen two flavors I like paired together…vanilla and mint.
Ingredients:
- 1 T. Brown Sugar
- 1 T. White Granulated Sugar
- 1 T. Organic Coconut Oil
- 1/8 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 5 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
Directions:
To make this DIY lip scrub, all you have to do is mix the ingredients together well. Here is how you use it:
- Apply a small amount to lips.
- Rub the mixture on your lips for a minute, allowing the scrub to loosen dead skin.
- Wipe the scrub off with a damp cloth.
- Apply a lip conditioner to your super smooth lips.
- Store extra in an airtight container.
As always, this recipe can be easily customized to your tastes. You can use lemon instead of vanilla if you want, or spearmint instead of peppermint if you’d like. It’s your scrub, so make it the way you’ll like it. Don’t forget these make great gifts, too.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do. Here’s to more kissable lips today!

Where did you get the cute little container for your lip scrub? These would make a cute valentines gift for the young women I work with at church.
Christie Selken says
They are cute containers! I was lucky and found them at Target in the dollar section. They were in a little ziplock pouch with 3 for just $1. I have seen similar ones in the travel section at Walmart, but I think they are slightly bigger. Good luck finding them!

I found both plastic and metal containers on clearance at Joann Crafts. Picked up quite a few!

would you share your cute label for the lip scrub with me?
Christie Selken says
Kelly,
I would gladly share it but I searched and searched my computer and couldn’t find it. I must have deleted it! 🙁
Sorry,
Christie

Do you melt the coconut oil or is it in raw form? I have a big jar of coconut oil and didn’t know if I’d have to melt it to mix it all together.
Christie Selken says
Hi Candice,
You can just scoop some out and put in a small bowl to melt before measuring it out. The whole jar doesn’t have to be mixed. I hope you enjoy the lip scrub!

Do you have any alternatives for the coconut oil? Sadly, I am allergic 🙁
