This year I’m turning away from traditional Christmas decorations. Yes, this year I’m craving colorful, fun holiday decor. And since I’m loving pom pom everything these days I decided to make a Pom Pom Holiday Wreath. What can I say? It matches my crochet pom pom lighted garland, after all!
I was instantly inspired while shopping at Michael’s Craft Store recently. When I spotted this fun string of pom pom garland I knew I had to have it. I had planned on making my own pom poms with leftover yarn but purchasing the garland made my project easier and faster.
Materials needed to make a Pom Pom Holiday Wreath:
- Small Christmas Trees (I used 4 of various sizes in white, pink, blue and green)
- Pom Pom Garland or bag of colorful assorted pom poms (or make your own)
- Floral pins
- Large white pom poms
- Red ribbon
- Styrofoam Wreath Form
I wanted to link the the pom pom garland I used but I couldn’t find it on the Michael’s website so I apologize. I found it down the holiday aisle among the other holiday garlands. If you want to use the same one I did, I’d look for it at your local store. Also, it was cheaper for me to buy a snowman making kit with the different sized white pom poms in it instead of different bags of them. I found the kit at Michael’s, too.
Wreath instructions:
Start by wrapping the wreath form with ribbon, using floral pins to secure it. Make sure the ribbon overlaps slightly to cover the foam.
Next, add the pom pom garland to the the wreath using floral pins. If you are using individual pom poms you may opt to use hot glue instead.
Next I added the larger white pom poms to the wreath and secured them into place with the floral pins.
Now it’s time to add the finishing touch. I removed the bases off of my trees so that only the wire stem was showing. That way I could directly punch the trees into the styrofoam wreath form.
Add the trees to the wreath form and you’re done. I did reinforce the trees with a floral pin because I wanted to make sure they’d stay in place. You know we all get crazy and slam a door around Christmas time at least once, right? I’m really joking, but still, you never know… I find it’s best to be prepared. 🙂
Can I admit how much I am loving this Pom Pom Holiday Wreath?? I am a BIG fan of color, even if it isn’t represented throughout my home all year. Christmas is the time I can get away with bright, bold colors. So I like to live it up while I can!
I hope you like this fun holiday wreath, too. You’ll have to make your own, though, because I’m definitely keeping this one! I don’t care if it’s not even Christmas yet. I’ve already put it on my door for display so it can make me smile each time I walk through the door. Looking for other holiday wreath ideas? Check them out below!
