Do you have a shadowbox laying around that you’re not sure what to do with? Let me show you how easy it is to convert it into something useful. Today I’m sharing how easy it was to make this Shadowbox Jewelry Organizer for my niece. Just promise not to tell her how easy it was, OK?
When I made one of my nieces a jewelry organizer for her birthday earlier this year, her older sister really liked it, too. I had a piece of leftover sheet metal sitting around waiting for inspiration to hit when I found a shadowbox in my craft closet. Bingo! I instantly knew it would be a great to combine the two into a useful jewelry organizer, and since my oldest niece’s birthday was coming up, I quickly started working on the project. Let me show you how it went down!
I started with this plain shadowbox I had purchased at the craft store on clearance.
I stained it a beautiful pink color.
I decided to paint just the inside of the shadowbox with another shade of pink paint I had on hand to hide imperfections in the wood grain.
I then attached the leftover piece of sheet metal I had (a perfect fit!) to the inside of the shadowbox. I had used construction adhesive on my last project using this sheet metal, but I needed something to dry clear this time in case it showed through. Liquid Nails Clear Seal is a perfect choice for this part!
I used knobs and drawer pulls inside of the shadowbox to hold jewelry like necklaces, bracelets, charms, etc. I attached them using Gorilla Glue, another one of my faves!
See how the drawer pulls are perfect for holding small items when mounted upside down inside the shadowbox? The earrings hang perfectly on the sheet metal front, then just open up the shadowbox and hang your necklaces, bracelets, etc. It’s so easy to use!
See how easy that was? Just stain, paint and glue. I didn’t even have to cut the sheet metal because it was already the perfect size. Yay!
The very last step was to attach a couple of hangers to the back so my niece can hang her new Shadowbox Jewelry Organizer on the wall. Now she can organize her jewelry collection in style. Now I want one!!
