When I decided to get my prayer life organized earlier this year, I really didn’t know where to start. I just knew I needed something new to ignite my prayer life. My method of jotting down a list of prayer requests wasn’t working for me anymore and I needed a change. I searched online and in stores for a prompted prayer journal but couldn’t find anything I liked. So I did what any girl would do and created my own. You know I can’t wait to share them with you today, right?
Of course I want to share them with you because I know what it’s like to be frustrated and not able to find what you want. Most of the options I found in my search for a prayer journal were simply blank journals with inspirational covers meant for journaling, which was not what I was looking for. I wanted something to help me focus on my prayer needs for the month plus give me space to record other things on my mind and heart. I wanted to make sure I was praying for the important people and areas of my life intentionally and with purpose. What better way to do that than with a plan?
Let me give you the run down of the sections I created for my monthly prayer journal and how to use them.
It starts out with a section to record a verse to memorize or focus on in prayer for the month.
Praise & Thanksgiving
It’s great to start out your time planning your prayers by thanking God for His goodness, so use this space to jot those praises down.
What’s On My Heart
Is your heart burdened about something? Is there a prayer need you feel is utmost important? Here’s your chance to unload your thoughts.
Prayers for the World
What world needs will you pray for this month? Is there a particular country or area of the world to focus on, or worldwide needs?
Prayers for My Nation
How can you pray for your nation this month? Write out prayers for your leaders or prayer concerns for your nation and/or state.
Prayers for My Family
What family prayer needs will you focus on this month?
Prayers for My Friends
Which friends need you to blanket them in prayer this month?
Prayers for Myself
What prayer needs do YOU have this month? Which areas of your life are you struggling with? Do you have questions that you need answered?
Prayers for My Church
How will you pray for your church? Pray for mission trips, finances, whatever God lays on your heart for the month.
Here’s a section to pray for anything not included above. Perhaps it’s a space to write down prayers for your school or your community. It’s up to you!
This is the most exciting part…a place to jot down answers to prayer! Maybe you want to use this space to write down prayers as they’re answered throughout the month, or you can choose to journal about the prayers answered from last month. Again, it’s your choice. Make these printables your own!
There’s a note page to give you space to write down anything that comes to mind during your prayer time throughout the month. Write down any insights, scriptures, etc.
Prayer Prompt Pages
Do you sometimes find it hard to pray for someone, or maybe even yourself? I’ve included Prayer Prompt Pages to get you started. There are pages titled My Husband, My Children, My Family and Myself. These prayer prompts are meant to inspire you and give you options when praying over people in your life.
The best thing about the Prayer Prompt Pages is that you get to choose how you use them. Maybe you want to focus on praying for one need each day, checking them off as you go throughout the month. Or maybe you decide to highlight and focus on just a few for the month. There is no right or wrong way to use them, they are included just as an added resource.
When I shared the pages I created with my friends, they thought I’d planned to sell them.
