Today is World Gratitude Day, a day dedicated to expressing gratitude for the blessings in your life. It is a day to reflect on and show appreciation for what you do have in your life instead of focusing on what you don’t have. Will you join me today?
It can be easy to take things for granted and overlook the blessings in our lives when we are so busy. We get bogged down with our everyday responsibilities, commitments and tasks that we forget to take time out to just be still and reflect on the good things in our lives. It’s so easy to get sucked into a negative mindset by focusing on what we don’t have and ignoring the blessings right in front of us. But once we make a conscious effort to meditate on what is good in our lives and express our appreciation, our stress, anxiety and fear melts away and we find ourselves in a more peaceful state of mind. Now, that’s a state of mind I’d like to be in…how about you?
I think World Gratitude Day is an excellent start, but why limit showing appreciation to just one day a year? Since people who regularly practice appreciation tend to live happier lives, why not adopt an attitude of gratitude for every day of your life? Try spending just 5 minutes a day reflecting on the good things in your life this week and see how you feel. Chances are you’ll feel more optimistic and happier after focusing on your blessings.
What do you need to express gratitude for today? Is it your job? Your spouse? Your health? Tell me what you are grateful for today so I can celebrate World Gratitude Day with you! Would you like to know what I’m grateful for today? My family, friends, church and the love of Jesus Christ for starters, but you can check out these previous posts to read more about some of the blessings in my life:
