Quickly Clean Drains With Vinegar and Baking Soda
Only a clean freak would think about keeping drains clean. However, dirty drains not only cause odor, but they can be a great home for gnats. If you have a problem with gnats or an odor you just can’t find, the drains in your home may be the problem. Before bed, pour baking soda down each drain along with white vinegar. You want to add enough that the solution bubbles up and out of the drain. The bubbles from the mixture cleans the drain and also smothers the gnats. Do this before bed so they solution has time to work. Don’t run water in the sink or tub until the next day.
Toss Your Old Sponges
Have you ever considered how nasty your kitchen sponges are? The good news is you don’t have to use the old-school sponges your mother used. Instead, buy dishwasher safe sponges. Each evening, you can do the dishes that need to be washed by hand, clean down your counter tops, and then toss the sponge in the dishwasher along with the other dishes. It’s that simple. A clean, sanitary sponge can be yours each and every day!
Mix Hydrogen Peroxide and Dish Soap for the Best Stain Remover
Ugh. You cut yourself and got blood on your favorite shirt. Which stain remover works best for blood stains? Instead of searching though a huge selection of products, mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and blue dish washing soap and work into the stain. You can wash immediately or let the item sit until you’re ready to wash laundry. You’ll be amazed at how well this solution works for ANY stain!
Clean Your Microwave Easily and Naturally
Is there anything worse than scrubbing a nasty microwave? It seems like everything gets stuck on its walls like glue. Not anymore! All you have to do is heat a mixture of one cup water mixed with the juice of one lemon. Heat for 3 minutes and allow the mixture to set in the microwave for an additional 5 minutes, being careful not to open the door. The mixture will steam the inside of the microwave as it cools. Open the microwave and use a cloth dampened with the water-lemon juice mixture to clean the walls. Place the turntable in the dishwasher and you’re all done.
Line Your Fridge and Oven to Keep Them Clean
Last, but not least, keep your appliances clean so you don’t have to clean them as often. You can line the bottom of your oven with oven liners or simple aluminum foil. The refrigerator shelves can be lined with these liners as well or you can use Glad Press n’ Seal. Another great trick is to use cookie sheets. Not only will you keep your fridge clean, but you can easily slide out the cookie sheet to make things more accessible. It’s like adding slide-out shelving to your fridge.
