Hi, friends! I’m so happy you stopped by to take a look at my Simple & Quick Bunny Crochet Pattern. Today I’m sharing this free tutorial and pattern with you, just in time for Easter!
When I was in the 6th grade, my mother made me this super cute crocheted bunny lapel pin. I was so proud to wear this special pin that she made especially for me. She even made one for my best friend, and we wore our pins to school around the Easter holiday. My bunny may look a little dingy now, but it’s still special to me. I keep it in my treasure chest and pull it out every now and then just to get a look at it. Sometimes it’s the little gifts that matter the most, you know? Especially when someone makes the gift for you, like my mom did this one.
I had my mom hunt around for the pattern she used to crochet my bunny, but that was many years ago and she couldn’t find it. I decided to come up with my own pattern, and I’m so happy to share it with you today. This Simple & Quick Bunny Crochet Pattern is very similar to my bunny, with the exception that the ears aren’t crocheted separately and sewn on like the one my mom made me. I hope you like this pattern and have fun creating your very own bunnies.
Here is what you will need for this project:
- Medium weight yarn of your choice. I used Red Heart Super Saver in Baby Pink
- Red Heart Pomp-a-Doodle Yarn in White (or small craft pom-poms)
- Size H Crochet Hook (Check out my favorite hook)
Simple & Quick Bunny Crochet Pattern Instructions:
Chain 3. Slip stitch in 1st stitch to join.
Chain 3. 13 double crochet in ring. Slip stitch in top of chain 3 to join.
Chain 1. Single crochet in each stitch around . Slip stitch in 1st stitch to join. You just finished the body!
Chain 3, and complete 3 DC in the same stitch.
1 HDC in the same stitch. Congrats, the head is complete!
Chain 8.
Starting in 3rd chain from the hook, complete 1 HDC in each chain, joining the ear to the body with a slip stitch.
Chain 8. Complete 1 HDC in each chain, joining to the body with a slip stitch. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Cut the Pomp-a-Doodle yarn so that there is one pom-pom in the middle.
Slip the ends of the yarn through the bunny and secure it with a knot.
Note: Pomp-a-Doodle yarn may be hard to find since it’s been discontinued. If you can not find it, make your own pom-pom with yarn or purchase small pom-poms from the craft store and attach to your bunny using glue.
You could attach your bunny to a pin to create a label pin like mine, or maybe you’ll want to use your bunnies to make a garland to celebrate Easter this year. Bunnies aren’t just for Easter, though. A bunny garland would look great in a nursery, too! Use could even use this Simple & Quick Bunny Crochet Pattern to make bunnies to attach to a scarf or purse. What will you use your bunnies for?

These are super cute. They look easy but I do not know how to crochet. I did, however pin the post in case I ever learn. I would definitely want to make them. Thanks for the tutorial!

These are sooo easy. Do you know how I learned to crochet? My mother taught me how to chain (which is nothing!) and then I bought a book from Walmart that explains everything. It’s only $10 and even comes with hooks and a DVD. Maybe you could try it? I’m so glad you like my bunnies! 🙂

Thank you so much for this pattern. I’ve never seen one as simple and cute as this one. Because of the pandemic, our library hasn’t been open except for filling orders for books, so they have been having Take N Make for adults. I’m printing out your excellent directions and giving it to our library for them to use next month. They furnish the yarn and instructions, but not the hooks for crocheting and this would be an inexpensive craft for them to use. I also live in a rural small town with limited craft stores.
