I’ve finally taken the plunge and given brush lettering a try. Now, can I admit something to you??? I’m hooked! Today I’m sharing the love thanks to Olivia at Random Olive. If you’re wanting to learn how to create beautiful brush letters, she’s your girl. I’m happy to partner with her today with a free printable practice guide so you can give brush lettering a try, too! Truthfully, I never thought I really needed to know this skill since there are so many fonts out there you can use when creating things. Turns out I was wrong because not only is brush lettering beautiful, but it’s fun and relaxing, too! Olivia’s videos on Instagram make it look so easy, but trust me…it takes practice.
Since I was serious about learning brush lettering and knew I needed practice, I printed out her comprehensive guide and got to work. I have been using the traceable practice pages to practice my technique and learn the right (and wrong!) amount of pressure to use. While she uses a paintbrush, I’ve been learning by using brush pens to start. Maybe I’ll graduate to using actual brushes soon. We’ll see!
I am in love with this free printable practice sheet Olivia created for you. With a new year on the horizon, it’s a great reminder to strive for progress, not perfection, when setting goals for the new year. One of my goals for this year is to cultivate creativity in my life and I think I’ll begin by practicing brush lettering every day. Will you join me?
